Setting up a business on Ebay, a success story

A couple of years ago I read an article in ‘Closer Magazine’ while I was sitting in the doctors surgery. It was about a woman called Julie King who started a shop on Ebay in her spare time (called Killer Heels) selling shoes and clothes that she bought from wholesales then sold on Ebay for a profit. She became such a success that she managed to pay her mortgage off and was making around £72’000 per year!

After reading the article I felt so inspired to go and set my own Ebay business up that I did a lot of research into online businesses, I even managed to find a wholesaler in Glasgow who sold the same shoes that she did. In the end I didn’t start a business on Ebay I decided to setup Peazyshop instead, I didn’t have the space in my flat to keep all the stock!

Whilst running a business full-time is not for everyone, running a small business online part-time is something that most people can easily achieve. The internet has made this possible for a number of reasons: It costs virtually nothing to setup a business online, unlike traditional offline businesses that can often require a large initial investment. A lot of processes online can be automated meaning you can just set a few hours aside a day to run your business and you can still keep your day job. The internet opens the doors to millions of potential customers, if you sell on Ebay the customer base is already there for you, part of the hard work has been done!
