Selecting the right keyword for you blog or website

One of the most important things you must do when writing a blog or website that you want to make money from is choosing the right keywords for each page; Make the keyword to general and it will probably never be indexed in the search engines, which is why you should make the keyword you choose as specific/niche as possible.

Example – if you choose a very general keyword like womens clothes it is very unlikely your website page will ever come up for that keyword. But if you were to choose something more specific like Diesel womens summer jacket in red which is far more specific you have a much higher chance that it will index for those keywords.

Thankfully choosing niche keywords is not a guessing game there is free online Keyword tools out there that will do the hard work for you.

Overture keyword selector http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ allows you to put in a broad keyword and it will show you specific variations of what people have been actually looking for over the last month on Yahoo.

Another useful keyword selector https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal Google’s Keyword Tool which generates potential keywords and reports their Google statistics, including search performance and seasonal trends.

As well as that it shows you Google Adwords cost and ad position estimates. This is very useful information as the amount that advertisers are willing to pay per click for keywords can give you a ball park idea to whether the niche you are selecting is profitable or not.
Both of these keyword tools do more than a good job and are all you really need to research your keywords properly. So I don’t think there is any need to waste money on expensive keyword tools and software, save the money instead!
