Review of the best and worst cards for taking abroad
Money saving website moneysavingexpert.com has recently reviewed and compiled a list of the best and the worst, payment cards for using when you travel abroad this year.
The output of the research has revealed that UK citizens are wasting a whopping £245 million when they travel outside the UK.
The review showed that Halifax’s clarity credit card came out best while Intelligent finances card came out worst.
Money saving expert reviewed the fees that are charged for spending £1000 on foreign currency and withdrawing a further £750 in cash.
Using the Halifax clarity fees amounted to £8 while the same spending came to £120 with Intelligent finance’s card.
The list also included the best prepaid cards which are becoming more popular due to their increased security features of credit card spending.
So the list for the best cards while spending abroad are:
Halifax Clarity (credit card)
Sainsbury’s Gold (credit card)
Fair FX (pre pay card)
Caxton FX (pre pay card)
Travelex Cash Passport (pre pay card)
And the worst are:
Halifax Debit Card
Lloyds Debit Card
Intelligent Finance Debit Card
